ABOUT ABOUT

NEW YORK PREMIERE

On the day’s agenda for a group of foul-minded teenagers: alcohol, marijuana, and fornication. Yet today also involves an old board game. To begin playing, they each have to donate blood, which triggers a countdown; then, someone’s head combusts. In order to save one’s own skull from similar annihilation, each teen has to kill someone—anyone. Naturally, a murder spree ensues, all while the clock keeps ticking and heads steadily explode.

What would happen Larry Clark’s brand of direction-less teens occupied an ’80s splatter movie? The answer: GAME OF DEATH, the deranged spawn of Canada’s Sebastien Landry and Laurence Baz Morais. A favorite on the genre festival circuit throughout 2017, GAME OF DEATH is see-it-to-believe-it anarchy complete with 8-bit animation, amazing practical effects, and, no joke, manatees. New York isn’t ready—trust us. —Matt Barone
