Juana (Cecilia Cartasegna) returns home after a savage attack from her husband Mateo (Emiliano Carrazzone) causes her to lose their baby. Although she covers for him, her husband has run off fearing indictment. Alone in the large apartment, every noise she hears leads her to suspect her husband has returned home. As the noises and disturbances worsen and Mateo is nowhere to be found, Juana is forced to consider the possibility that her home might be haunted. Jimena Monteoliva’s solo directorial debut expertly builds tension maintaining a sense of unease from the start that creeps higher until the frightening and suffocating shocker of a third act. Cecilia Cartasegna delivers with a classically terrifying portrait of a woman on the edge. —Joseph Hernandez
